I’m one of the old guys here. I watched the TOS when it first came out on NBC. I personally have high hopes for this movie. Looks great. I never judge a book by it’s cover nor will I this movie. I go in to the theater with an open mind. I think well all be surprised by how good this one turns out…
If those people who are saying “Uh,love/sex scene in Star Trek?NEVER!” would be REAL Trekkies, they would know that Sex in ST happend every now and then in every Series..Even Commander Data had had Sex in one episode of TNG!
Sex in ST is mostly used to underline some attributes and to characterise a special relationship between two characters. Think about the special relationship between the Klingon Worf and the Trill Dax on DS9!
Star Trek was never about some spaceflying Monks….
This is my personal opinion, it might be wrong though as it’s too fast shifting for me to see properly, but i think the sex scene is kirk x uhura, in which case it’s not been hollywood-ized as you say… it’s a tribute to roddenberry, since in the original series, kirk x uhura was the first Interracial Kiss on TV, but like i said, i can’t see if it IS uhura…
Dude, I saw every Star Trek series (except that shitty Enterprise) and almost all the movies and I gotta tell you, it’s so cool to see the universe in 21st century technology.
I mean you saw many battles in all the series but think back, at the beginning of First Contact, the huge space battle with the Borg… Damn, I saw that scene like a hundred times, it was so awesome, in Nemesis, the battle and the ending: just epic. And now this… OMG, I think I’m gonna shit my pants in the cinema!
What a fuckin tool. The fact that this great sci-fi series is being hollywood-ized with sex scenes RUINS it for me. The only nerds are the ones who want to see T&A on-screen rather than roddenberry’s brilliant stories!
not true neotex555 emmerich always teased us with those shit trailers at least abrams gives way more than that ass that completely ruin godzilla, at least so far abrams hasn’t given us complete shit like emmerich has.
well, i dont think that age have something to do with this (at star trek original series you was a baby) , if you look at my personal chanel will find music, movies and books of all times.
Art in general could have very fragil aspects. for example Emmerich, director of Godzilla, Independence day, the day after tomorrow, use good topics but the final product is horrible, very cliche and superficial. This trailer looks something like that obviously is only a trailer, i going to give it a chance
i agree 100%. My mother grew up watching the original series back in the 60’s and she watched all the films and tv shows (she is a HUGE TREKKIE), so when I saw the previevs to this new Star Trek film I asked her for her “seal of approval”, she actually likes how this new film is shaping up, though she is kinda skeptical if any of the original themes of life and philosophy will be in the new film, which in her own words, “made Star Trek stand out as the classic it truly is”
I must say that the casting must’ve been expensive, i count at least 10 world-wide known stars on imdb, not counting the others that i’ve not heard of, obviously
looking at your ramblings you are obviously of an age that just doesnt get the true star trek world!!
give this re-imagining a chance then your free to say your piece whatever those ramblings may be?

First of all, they didn’t even kiss. If you watch, their lips never touch. Secondly, even if they did, it was a first interracial kiss, not fuck.

I’ve never been a Star Trek fan, but god damn this trailer has got me curious. I’m gonna be first in line when this hits the cinemas for sure.
Abrams looks like he’s done such an amazing job with it.

“I couldn’t believe it when the bartender told me who you are.”
Sort of foreshadows Kirk’s future status as a complete legend.

Although I gotta admit, the fact that there is a love scene in a Star Trek film… Odd…
But damn this trailer is epic, and I’m sure the film is gonna be too.

Exactly, we just have to wait and see, and you pointed out I could like it and you could hate it, its all a matter of opinion.
