Point taken…but if I don’t find anything bad about the film, then I don’t say anything bad about it…for more in depth reviews, check out my written columns, where there’s no limit on time unlike TV…and um, what’s with the fag comment in the end hhmmm? Thanks for watching though! Manny
The movie is kinda nice. I’d say though that the director was affraid to face the similar critisism as the “Star Trek: Enterprise” so he just tagged it alternate reality .
I was a little disappointed in the movie… not for the acting or the effects or the characters… but mainly because I’ve spent forever not reading anything on the movie… no plot details, no nothing… I wanted to go into the movie blind and with an open mind. Well… if I had just read the words “alternate timeline”… I’d've stayed away, that’s for sure. Kind of a let down, I spent the whole movie waiting for *spoiler deleted*… and then the credits roll… … oh well, live and learn.
Dude get a program like protools and do the following to ur voice. EQ it, normalise and compress the volume of ur voice so it stays the same. Get a pop filter so we cant hear u popping ‘p’s into the mic as well as a deesser program. And finally stop being so positive. Ur a critic u never have anything bad to say about any movie. Then ur actually interviewing the cast and hardly show it. Ur a fag.
All the reviews I’ve read or seen on “Star Trek” are all terrible at best. They all sound exactly alike explaining nothing about the film’s new strengths. They simply restate the fact that it’s a reboot, it’s sleek, bla, bla, bla. What about the great drama between Spock and his mother, or the dynamic between Uhura, Spock and Kirk, the groundbreaking FX and magnificent score. It was classic Trek and it wasn’t Gen-X at all. These people need a new job if you ask me. An idiot could do their job.
All the critics liked this picture lots, but it left me cold. Maybe I’m getting old, but it seemed rather gen-y for my taste. I didn’t find Kirk charismatic; in fact, I found his simpering frat-boy superiority off-putting. Also, the character doing ‘Bones’ seemed constantly on the verge of blowing his accent. I thought the plot was thin. Also, I felt like the story gratuitously glorified its more aggressive impulses in the form of constant (often unnecessary) fist-fights etc.
Begin a “trekker”, as they prefer to be called, myself one problem I have with this movie (among others) is that the old franchise died with the creation of this film. Any and all new Star Trek fans will see this movie and its sequels as “Star Trek” (as a whole). They will never know or truely appreciate what Star Trek is really is or has been. Totally off topic, I would just like to say: Majel Barrett Roddenberry R.I.P., you were a great nurse chapel, and an amazing luxwana troi.
the “alternate timeline” that this film was based on can almost explain any, if not all, “plotholes” in the film. If you look at the film as part of the traditional Star Trek timeline then I could probably make a list longer then the distance from Earth to Vulcan about the “plotholes” in this movie.
The movie was great but there are some sloppy plotholes which left Trek diehards ranting.
1. Nero rants that the Federation did nothing as Romulus was destroyed by the supernova. Knowing the Federation, they would have dispatched help (possibly a repaired Enterprise post-Nemesis) for any chance of easing relations with the Romulans as with the Klingons in ST6.
2. While defenders of the film stress out the film is an alternate reality, it calls into question the fate of one Jean-Luc Picard
This movie rocked! I can’t say enough good things. It’s just like the guy said, on every level whether the acting, the cinamatography, the humor, and the storyline, it was on point and not lacking in any one thing in my opinion. I recomend anyone to see this.
I swear do not read…I don’t? even know why I’m participating I guess I’m still a bit paranoid. But really do not read this I swear . Also thanks this was really appreciated.

I am a huge fan of all things Trek I live and breath the 6 TV shows and now 11 movies, and the novels, ect. When I first heard it was going to be a “young” TOS crew movie, I was like oh no. I wanted a DS9 movie or somthing after the TNG era. This movie blew me away though, it was so entertaining I loved it. I hope they make more with this cast and crew. Lots of laughs and action, go see it you won’t be dissapointed. The whole theatre clapped at the end and I’ve never been to a movie like that

I loved the film, it was REALLY funny!! The action was good too. The cast seemed to replicate the old characters very well.
