If you like gay white men who attempt to equate their plight with black slavery then you will LOVE this movie. I felt very insulted and disappointed this movie was not worth $8 I paid to see it. Sean Penn is GAY!

Emile Hirsch is my fav actor (as well as Joseph Gordon-levitt) he has already appeared in two other gay themed films the Mudge boy & Imaginary Heros were hes played a gay character. Im so happy he’s in this film ^^

I’m with you on that. This is, in my OP, the Best Picture of 2008, and it could get the Oscar Brokeback was denied. Van Sant deserved to win for Good Will Hunting in 1998, but he stood no chance against Titanic. Reviews for the heavily-touted Benjamin Button have been mixed from “good” to “bad” and even “meh,” but about 90% of critics love Milk.

What intrigued me about this is that Penn played a real, brave human man, not just a gay man. Its about human rights and courage of being yourself.

I just saw a screening of this movie tonight and it is now one of my new favorite movies. I cant wait till it comes out so I can see it again.

It is political, but anyone can understand it. And the humor and realness really add to it. I think what I love most about it is that yes, he’s a gay man. Yes, he’s a political figure. But he’s human, just like all of us. It’s hard not to love Harvey Milk in this movie.

Yes, though there’s been so much growth that they’ll have to digitally remove the many buildings that have gone up over the years. Also the green Castro streetcar in the riot clip would not have been front of the Twin Peaks aka Glass Coffin bar as that turn did not exist before 1995. The F line kept going straight (no pun) up Market St., past Castro St., and underground into the Twin Peaks tunnel. And no Castro St. was not named after Fidel though he is gay.

I can’t WAIT to see this movie. They say it is miraculously meticulous in recreating 1978 and the actual places where the story took place. By all means see “The Times of Harvey Milk” also; it is the best and most moving documentary ever made.
