The whole September now is the ghost month. I heard on the Chinese radio explain why you shouldn’t turn around when you hear your name. They say the “cow head and horse face” (the hell’s guards) will gather all the ghost back to hell at the end of the month. The ghost who doesn’t want to leave will start to call out names to get people to replace them. If a person response, he or she will replace that ghost and the ghost get to stay on Earth freely.
In case you guys are wondering, the ghost month is a real Chinese tradition. It starts on the 14th day and 7th month of the lunar year. I’m surprised that the few facts they had in the trailer was actually pretty accurate. Although the one that you shouldn’t turn if somebody calls your name, you’d have to turn your head to the left, right, and upwards before you “open your soul”. Can’t wait to watch this!

No it is NOT a remake. The subject matter (Ghost Month) is similar, but it’s a different kind of movie.
