Sorry for the repetition of the word “to led” on my comment… Kindly disregard it
Actually, the love story, according to folk history in Baler, was true. But of course it was a film, the director and the writer made it more romantic and he sensationalized the history.
It is a true story. This is the filming regarding the historic Siege of Baler in then Province of Tayabas (now Quezon but Baler is now at Aurora Province). The last Spanish soldiers in the Philippines hid at the San Luis Toledo Church of Baler where in they got there for almost one year (June 1, 1898June 3, 1899). It was a Bulakenyo from San Miguel, Bulacan named Col. Simon Tecson y Ocampo who led the Philippine Revolutionary Force to led the surrender of the Spaniards to the Filipinos.
yes the ending is sad. I didnt know this was a true story though, just found out when the movie started cuz it says its a true story about these people. Just watched it last night, I thought it was good.
ito yung pinanuod namin for film showing last friday.. grabe akala ko tutulugan ko lang tong movie na ‘to… napapaluha naman ako lalo na yung unexpected ending nya… grabe… haii…
As Spanish guy I expect to see this film as soon as possible because i think this historic event is very important for both countries for Spain because represents the last battle of its “empire” where they fought bravely without hope of help. So its very important for Philiphines too because it was its last for its independance against Spain, the fouht bravely too and both sides did it with honor.. Now both countris are friends and so must go on..
