You also looped part of that awesome kings of convenience song (Cayman Islands) in the background… though I wish you just played the song the whole way through.

When there’s an eclipse of any kind it can only be viewed from a narrow strip of locations where the perspective and timing is right. So, it’s okay that you didn’t know about it. Solar eclipses happen about one or two times a year.

When there’s an eclipse of any time it can only be viewed from a limited number of places on Earth. It can only be viewed from a narrow strip of land or ocean where the angles and perspective are right.

An annular solar eclipse occurs when the sun and the moon appear in an exact line with Earth, however unlike in a total solar eclipse, when the sun and the moon display the same angular size and therefore the sun is completely eclipsed, the moon’s angular diameter is smaller than that of the sun. This keeps the moon from completely blocking out the sun. The remaining piece of the sun that is visible creates a “ring of fire” around the black silhouette of the moon.

annular eclipse is when the sun and the moon are exactly in line.Annulus is the bright ring surrounding the sun. This is as a result of the moon is smaller than the sun!Hence, solar eclipse is a misnomer.Good question!thanks!
